* In the early years, Leadership Springfield had two boards of directors. One board handled operations while the Alumni Association Board of Directors, started by Class III and comprised of graduates, worked to get graduates involved in the community and to enhance the program. The alumni association also started the Leadership Academy. As more graduates began to serve on both boards, the purpose of the two boards became similar. In 1994, the two boards merged into the present board of directors.
